Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently in Russia for his first visit since the start of the conflict in Ukraine. Upon landing at the Moscow airport on Monday, Modi was given a state of honor. He later met Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, who gave him a special supper. Putin stated, “You are welcome here, friend,” and thanked PM Modi for coming. I’m very glad to see you again.” Putin gave Prime Minister Modi a tour of Novo-Ogaryovo, where he resides, in his electric vehicle. Following their conversation, the Russian Embassy in India released a video showing the two leaders having a great time on their drive.

Top sources said on Tuesday that Russia has generally heeded India’s request to stop hiring Indians as support workers for the Russian military and to guarantee the repatriation of those who are already serving in the force.

Over the previous ten years, PM Modi and Putin have met sixteen times. The two leaders’ most recent face-to-face encounter occurred in 2022 at Samarkand, Uzbekistan, during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit.

As the first Indian prime minister to visit the country in forty years, PM Modi will go to Austria after his visit to Russia.
