In a significant development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to visit Varanasi, his Lok Sabha constituency, this Saturday. He will perform the groundbreaking ceremony for a cutting-edge international cricket stadium during his visit. This endeavor aligns with the Prime Minister vision to bolster sports infrastructure throughout the country.
The international cricket stadium, to be built in Ganjari, Rajatalab, Varanasi, will occupy a vast area of over 30 acres, with an estimated cost of about Rs 450 crores. What’s truly unique about this stadium is its design, which draws inspiration from Lord Shiva. The architectural features include a crescent-shaped roof, floodlights in the form of tridents, seating inspired by the steps of Varanasi’s ghats, and metallic sheets on the facade shaped like Bilvipatra leaves. When finished, this stadium will be able to accommodate up to 30,000 fervent fans.
To make this project possible, the Uttar Pradesh government has invested Rs 121 crore to acquire the necessary land, while the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will contribute Rs 330 crore toward the construction.
Cricket greats like Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, and Ravi Shastri are expected to attend the inaugural ceremony, making it a star-studded event.
. Key BCCI officials including President Roger Binny, Vice President Rajiv Shukla, and Secretary Jay Shah will also participate in the event.
During his Varanasi visit, Prime Minister Modi will also visit the Rudraksh International Cooperation and Convention Centre and take part in the closing ceremony of Kashi Sansad Sanskritik Mahotsav 2023. Additionally, he will dedicate 16 Atal Awasiya Vidyalaya schools, constructed at a cost of approximately Rs 1,115 crore across Uttar Pradesh. These schools have been exclusively established to provide quality education and support the overall development of children from backgrounds of laborers, construction workers, and orphans, particularly considering the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Kashi Sansad Sanskritik Mahotsav, which aims to improve the city’s cultural history, was also established as a result of Prime Minister Modi’s dedication to enhancing the cultural vibrancy of Kashi.
In a separate event, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate the International Lawyers’ Conference 2023 at Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi. Organized by the Bar Council of India, this two-day conference, themed ‘Emerging Challenges in Justice Delivery System,’ will provide a platform for constructive discussions on various legal topics of national and international significance. The conference is scheduled for September 23 and 24.
