The Army said in a post on X that it honors the Agniveer’s supreme sacrifice and that “certain posts on Social Media have brought out that compensation hasn’t been paid to the Next of Kin of Agniveer Ajay Kumar who lost his life in the line of duty.”
“The final ceremonies were performed with the utmost military honors. The family of Agniveer Ajay has already received ₹ 98.39 lakhs of the total sum owed. Ex – Gratia and other benefits, as applicable under the terms of the Agniveer Scheme, in the sum of around 67 lakhs will be paid on Final Account Settlement as soon as the necessary police verification is completed. About ₹1.65 Cr will be the whole payment, the Army continued.
Rajnath Singh’s office reposted the Army’s statement, stating, “Indian Army is committed for the welfare of Agniveers.”
