Hanuman Jayanti, which falls on April 27 of this year is celebrated as the birth of Lord Hanuman, one of the biggest devotees of Lord Rama.
Hanuman Jayanti is a religious festival of the Hindus which is largely celebrated throughout India as well as Nepal with full fervour, joy, enthusiasm. This auspicious day is marked as the birth anniversary of Lord Hanuman, who was the follower of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita.
As per Hindu mythology, Lord Hanuman was the greatest devotee of Lord Rama. He was a great believer and friend, because of this, Hanuman is also referred to as Ram Bhakt Hanuman. In Ramayan, he helped Lord Rama in defeating Lanka King Ravana, who kidnapped Goddess Sita.
People believe that by offering prayer to Lord Hanuman on this special day, one can have his and Lord Rama’s blessings. On this, Hanuman Jayanti, devotees across the country take day-long fasts and worship Lord Hanuman, to get rid of difficulties, suffering, and troubles in life.
Lord Hanuman is also considered to be the 11th avatar of Lord Shiva. Every year, the festival of Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated on the full moon day of Chaitra month.
According to the popular Hindu belief, Lord Hanuman was born on the full moon of the 15 days of Shukla paksha in the chaith month that is of Tuesday. On this day, devotees should chant Hanuman Chalisa and Mantras. Apart from this, one should also recite Sundarkand.
This year, with the rising cases of coronavirus and pandemic restriction in place, with several states observing state lockdowns, devotees have to celebrate the festival at home with the belief that the Lord Hanuman is able to overcome the toughest adversaries. Lord Hanuman is described as someone who always successfully tackled odds and difficult circumstances.
