by NPT-Editorial

Earth day is widely known per annum on 22nd April. It was founded by Gaylord Nelson of the united states in 1970. This day is widely known to remind us about the necessity to guard and safeguard our surroundings in order that we will make this planet a far better place for our future generation. This is the 50th anniversary of earth day. The theme of earth day this year is ‘Restore Our Earth.’

Mahatma Gandhi said- Earth provides enough to satisfy every man’s need, but not every man’s greed. Earth is the place where we live which provides us with all the essentials things like oxygen, food, sunlight, etc. Here we get to see the diversity of nature which heals all our sorrows and gives us a sense of peace.

This year we all are suppressed under the pandemic covid-19. Let’s fight with it bravely and restore our mother earth. Earth day aims at building the world’s largest environmental movement to drive transformative change for people and the planet. This day was collectively recognized to promote harmony with nature and the earth to achieve a balance among the economic, social, and environmental needs of present and future generations and humanity. This day provided a chance to boost public awareness round the world of the challenges regarding the well-being of the earth and every one the life it supports.

This year’s theme to revive focuses on natural processes, emerging green technologies, and innovative thinking which will restore the world’s ecosystem. Earth day is an event to highlight the importance of clean air, water, and land. We should be thankful to God almighty that we are living in such a beautiful place where we get to see the changes in climate, different seasons, and the beautiful nature with mountains, glaciers, oceans, etc. We as a person should learn to preserve these things. In the year 2000, there was a campaign focussing on global warming and clean energy. We should not waste any kind of energy whether it be solar, wind, hydro, etc. We should join either of the campaigns which are for saving the earth or related to this. According to Earth.org more than 1 billion in 192 countries take part in earth day activities making it large civic observance in the world.

Trees preserve the environment and give us life on earth. William Shakespeare said- ‘’The Earth has music for those who hear it.’’ It is up to each one of us to restore our earth not just because we care about the wildlife , but because we survive it. We all need a healthy Earth to support our jobs livelihoods health and survival and happiness. A healthy planet is not an option – it is a necessity. Let’s all pledge to restore our planet and make it the best place.
