Opting to bat first, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis stitched 74 for the first wicket. Du Plessis hit fifty and Raina played a cameo as CSK reached 134/4 after 16 overs. Jadeja smashed 62 off 28, including 37 off the final over to power CSK to 191/4. In response, Devdutt Padikkal got RCB to a blistering start but CSK pegged back with three wickets to reduce RCB to 68/3 after 7 overs. Jadeja ran through the middle order with three wickets and with the help of Imran Tahir’s two wickets, ruled RCB out of contention. Eventually, RCB managed to reach 122/9, losing the contest by 69 runs.
